Nancy Phillips Collection, 1943-1979.

Papers of Robert "Bob" Franklin Smith (1929-1973). Robert Smith was a professor of communication arts and sciences at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, 1963-1973 and specialized in radio broadcasting. He was the author of Edward R. Murrow : The War Years, published posthumously in 1978, by New Issues Press. Collection includes research notes and correspondence for the Murrow book and drafts, 1971-1973. Also in the collection are columns Smith wrote for the Kalamazoo Gazette and the Western Herald; draft of an unpublished book co-authored with Larry D. Osterman, of WKZO-TV, Kalamazoo; Smith's stories, poems, personal correspondence, 1958-1972; travel journals, 1968-1973; and scrapbooks, 1943, 1948, 1958-1971. Material about the People's Church, Kalamazoo, 1963-1973. Playbills for theaters in and around Kalamazoo, 1960s-1970s.
